This is so going on my blog

that was the immediate reaction i had when i discovered what the smashing pumpkins had been doing for the last few months.

after seeing them at leeds 07, things had died down abit on the SP front, radiohead's new album and sonic youth's back catalogue have been keeping me busy, but now this news has changed everything. look out for a the SP to take a huge lead in my last.fm chart over christmas as i lisen to everything the've ever made (potentially)

oh yeah, they're releasing new songs on Jan 1st.

black holes and revelations

its not really got anything to do with muse, its just muse are on tv right now and it actually fits perfectly with whats happening in my life.

i need to finish my book a.s.a.p. (about black holes and jazz) and finish the questions about it and write my report on it,

and i just found out that my official lab report has to be in on friday not monday (the revelation bit) so that means the presure is off there.

Homo......ner

it finally come to the point where i have to search for a house. after googling for the last 10 minutes it seems like it might be harder than first expected, but then thats what you get for having high standards.

maybe i'll just have to take a deep breath and dive into the slums and learn to live with it, i guess the comute from london is a tad inpractical.

......so i stayed up all night listening to Techno

my journey into electro has begun, the first album that entered my life was mistake, mistake, mistake, mistake. and i love it. i'm currently scouting around for alot more albums to add to my collection.

i hope everybody can take a holiday in electro like i am, maybe i'll buy a time-share in dance, visit it a few times a year or so.

Shallow Graves For Shallow People

I've recently found out that i like depressing things, while not being depressed myself, i just for some reason like it.

also christmas Songs make me depressed, maybe there's something wrong with me by having those opinions the way round that i do, but hey, show me a picture of stick men talking about god having aids and i'll laugh.

anyway, the video is here or i'll embed it in the blog lower down if you like that sort of thing. and ignore the pictures over the top, you'll get it as you watch it.

A good weekend

this weekend i had 6 white russians, mmmmmmmm white russians.

what is it about white russians that make them so tastey and funderfull, maybe its the fact that its basically an alcoholic cold coffee, or maybe its that they are pure luquified awesome.

idk, whatever it is, they rule, and having 3 in one night makes them even better.

The return leg

God, sitting in a train station wasting time is so boring, I mean, I really can’t think of anything else I could do that would leave me so bored, except maybe watch the film soylent green again. My god people, how such a film became a classic I don’t know, maybe I ruined it because I already knew the big twist but I’m sure everybody has.
Encase you haven’t guessed I’m writing this blog in the Sheffield train station while waiting for the 14:41 train to Hull. Missed the 13:37 [and yes it was the 13:37, I’m not making that up] because the quite obviously gay bus driver was a big gay and didn’t show up 10 minutes early like I had planned.

Anyway life’s not so bad I guess, I got to have a go at some woman for talking on her phone on speaker phone [what a bitch] and then I chucked in a scoff at her horrible shoes as well, maybe the last bit was a bit harsh/gay but o well it was funny to me.

i've spent the last 3 days listening to only the cure (more or less) and although i've always thought of myself as a cure fan i am now an official cure scene kid.

Tarantula vs Tarantula

a few months ago there was a competition on viewforia.com to remake the video for tarantula (smashing pumpkins). well after a couple days i forgot about it untill today when i discovered the winning video for the competition, and to be honest i like the video alot better than the origonal. the oficial video is ok, it just doesn't represent anything.

whereas, the new video could represent all the political and enviromental things that the smashing pumpkins are suposed to believe in, like all bands now.

well here are the videos, make up your own mind

msn whore?

the first thing i did today, after waking up at 2, was to log into msn.

do i need to be worried? i feel that as msn appears to now be above showering and pee-ing in my to-do list that i may indeed be a msn whore.

at least im not an aim whore. "god" forbid that ever happens.

it's fairly depresing

i woke up this morning to find 13 emails in my inbox. i was fairly scepticle to why i had so many emails, and i was simultaniously worried that my email had finally gotten out and i was now suseptable to junk. it turned out that 11 of the emails were from youtube telling me that there was a post on one of my videos.

i find some comfort in the fact that over 80% of my mail is utter crap.

official johnny come lately

i always wondered what was so funny about the mighty boosh, it always seemed random for random sake. the equivilent of a scribble on a piece of paper. although after watching the live version of the boosh on youtube i m now officially a fan.

while i'm on the subject of random, the new family guy really suck, they've discovered there was a cult following because it was random, (indeed i was one of them) so now new episode are just crap because they try to make it ludicrously abstract that its just not funny anymore.

as of now, the mighty boosh is quite a nice medium. but that will probably change

Mullet Alert

i'm growing more concious of the fact that i might indeed have a mullet, or some sibling of a mullet. althought there is some cult-cool-ness of a mullet, mine is homegrown, i didn't have the intention of having one, and thus is just plain bad.

i'm worried for my awesomeness, it can't take another hit, especially as the whole nakid tennis thing didn't work out.

The 90's seemed so much better

it might just be the grainy footage and the fact that the bands where better, but whenever i see footage from festivals or concerts from early 90's or late 80's (your basic depressed scene) it always looks so much better than footage from now.

i can't really descrube it, but everything just seems way too happy, or at least too plain now.

the reason i love science

a bit of a science miricle coming up,

if you add salt to water, it lowers the freezing temperature (thats why you put salt on ice to make it melt) (and thats not why slugs melt).

well if you make a mixture of water, salt and ice, you create the ultimate method of cooling beer.

and thats why science rules.

A little tid-bit

I thought as i'm doing physics for 4 years i'd dish out some physics that learn, on a pureley oh my god thats cool basis.

first thing i've earnt that was cool, one of the stars that makes up orion, [betelgeuse] is not only alot bigger than our sun, if it was put in the smae place as our sun, the solar system would begin at saturn. the raduis of the star is bigger than the radius of jupeter's orbit. Fact.

Josh and Matt are awesome

I know i said i was going to stop talking about motion city soundtrack but this is a real story about them.

they were playing at the Leadmill, a club in sheffield, i didn't get tickets but we went afterwords just because it was a club. well 1 in the morning, we decided to go back to the halls and drink, guess who's standing outside... Josh and Matt from MCS. i went over and said hi, told them the show was great (lie number 1) and that i loved the new album (half a lie) and then got some autographs and left.

Quick as a Porcupines Hiccup

I like to think of myself as an impartial person, or at least to a certain extent, but i realised that i sometimes let things slide when really i shouldn't.

the only good example i can think of [and the one that made me have this epiphany] is the Motion city soundtrack album. one of the songs has oooo's in it, maybe not such a big deal, but lets face facts, yeah it is. but i still listen to the song because i love the sound of the Moog they use. something about the sound of that Moog lets me ignore the crappy-ness that is the words in the song.

anyway thats far too many posts about Motion city soundtrack, they may be sex-licious but thats no excuse for worshipping them, well i guess it is really, i mean who else am i supposed to look up to, kerrin?

-foxy

Monday 17 September 2007

wait

i just thought of another one, the song London underground. thats way better than going underground,

it's not quite the same but i did hear london unerground first so it counts.

-foxy

I'm used to it

You know how when you download a song or album some months/weeks before it's supposed to come out, there can sometimes be bits that are wrong in it or depending on how competent the rip-ee is even the noises of messenger alerts or usb diveces being plugged in.

well after a while you just get used to it and can even become part of the song, which is why when you get a good full quality copy it can sometimes not be as good as your crappy copy with bongs every 6 seconds.

it's a comfort thing i guess. i still listen to some crappy live recordings of songs just because they feel better.

-foxy

Saturday 15 September 2007

Even if it kills me

This is the title of the decidedly hit or miss new album from motion city soundtrack, some of the tracks are really good, bu then theres some that just seem too slow, or they just don't seem to work. that might just be me, but i'm definatly not feeling the song hello helicopter.

doesn't mean i'm not going to buy it though, infact i've already pre-ordered it with the limited edition patch. oh yeah.

anyway, the whole learn what a prposition is task didn't go to well, and infact never really left the ground. but i have a new one; when to use affect and effect.

A less than impressive outcome

It turns out that the reason my toe was numb is that it's been brewing a massive blister on the end, like i said, not very cool, i was hoping for some sort of nerve damage because my feet are upside down or something interesting. oh well.

i also managed to get a hold of the Year Zero remix album (the one remixed by fans) and its pretty good. i guess it would be considered halo 24.5. another remix album i managed to swipe a copy of is the old bloc party album, silent alarm remixed. again, fairly good but i think i prefer the original.

i also finally learned how to spell original. next task; learn what a preposition is and why i cant use them at the end of sentances.

thats the official diagnosis of my i-pod. somehow after countless openings, changing the battery and nearly not being able to get the hard drive back in it still works just fine after 3 years service.

The only problem with it is that the sides stick out kinda far because of all the times i've had to lever it out of its casing.

Other good news is i managed to work out a way to put a timer on the shutdown on windows, thus allowing me to leave downloads on overnight and yet still have it turn off before i wake up.

The Smashing Pumpkins and The I.T. Crowd will be on simultaniously [i think] and so i am unfortunatly forced to choose between the two.

One, is possibly my favourite band of all time and one of the most famous as well [which is handy], and the other is an awesome geeky tv show that me and Smiddy quote all the time. [seriously, everyday]

Well, i don't really have to choose, the Smashing Pumpkins are playing at leeds fest so my future is pretty much determined as to which i will be watching. But all the time i'm watching the Smashing pumpkins i won't be able to shake off the feeling that i'm missing something possibly better.

Crystal Meth : Midnight Killing Spree

Finished watching ATHF:MFFT and it was awesome, everybody must go and download it. even if you've never seen an episode it's still good to watch it because there's not too many in jokes.

I also saw the simpsons movie recently and all i can say is i'm not sure. i mean i liked it, some of it was funny and bart's penis was definatly a highlight. but i still don't know if i enjoyed it.

every since i knew there was going ot be a simpsons movie i knew i was going to see it purly because it was the simpsons movie, i didn't think it was going to be the best thing every and i knew it wasn't going to suck major balls. and thats exactly what it was. mediocre.

Salad Cream and Spares

A day probably can't begin much worse than opening fridge door and a big bottle of salad cream lands on your foot, breaks, and covers your jeans and socks in salad cream. [whats worse is i hate salad cream, it reeks.]

well the day didn't really get much better, after driving for some 15 minutes on what turned out to be a flat tire i had to change it. it was actually pretty cool, because being a beta-male [kinda gay, but not] i was able to do something extra-manly, promoting myself to a sort of limbo between the two states. A German Tale

kinda strange this one, i was playing guitar when my amp started screaming white noise at me. i took everything apart only to realise that i could hear voices throught my amp.

now the wierd thing here is that when i crossed the input jack to the amp and the out put jack from the guitar it made the signal very strong and i could hear very clearly some german radio staion. i don't really know much about radio waves and electromagnetic forces [and seeing as i'm studying physics for 4 years i guess it would help] but what i don't understand is how crossing the 2 jacks caused the signal to become better,

Un-Zeitgeist

Anybody who knows me knows i am a massive smashing pumpkins fan. and when i heard they were getting back together i couldn't wait for a new album. but as the release date wasn't for another 6 months i had to. (wait)

as the months became weeks it suddenly dawned on me that the new album was going to be a great let down. after waiting 6 years for a new smashing pumpkins cd, i had very high expectations, [especially after i downloaded the entire back-catalogue]

fortunatly for the me the album is so-so, some good songs and some that really didnt nee to be there but i guess i wil learn to love them after time, i mean i didnt like the postal service at first but now given the choice i would marry "natural anthem" without a second thought.

what does upset me though is the quite obvious fact that after several years, 1 new band, 1 solo project, a total of 26 mediocre songs, the only reason billy corgan has reformed the smashing pumpkins is because no matter what songs he writes, they will be loved because there is already a massive fan base.

now heres the thinker, does it make me shallow that i cant wait to see the new smashing pumpkins songs play the old material even though i'm indifferent to the new stuff? baring in mind that the band is theoretically the same as it ever was.

The O'reilly Factor

i've heard some controversy about bill o'reilly, so i thought i would actually check out his segment on FOX. and don't worry it was bullshit.

incase you haven't heard, some wwe wrestler went mentle and killed his wife and son and then hung himself. the cause is supposed to be because of steroid usage but nothing has been confirmed yet.

and this is where bill o'reilly comes back in. he was talking to an ex-wrestler and some bill o'reilly douche bag. well needless to say, whatever the ex-wrestler said was turned around by Bill because it contradicted with the point bill wanted to make about the wrestling business.

looks like FOX doesn't like rational, 2-sided arguments where each point of view is appreciated.

Good old FOX news.

Work

i've suddenly realised that working truely is a more socially acceptable form of slavery. i mean, as a slave you get a house (ish) food and your able to do some things, not alot but i guess if you've never had freedom you can't miss it. but as an employee you work and get given money to spend on a house, and food, and the ability to do more things than poor-er people.

really, this whole abolishing slavery deal was just a way to add a middle man who can make money by not doing much.

which sucks.
